30 years of motorcycle riding teaches one basic lesson: People driving cars are looking for other cars or big trucks, there is a human tendency to not evaluate as important a smaller vehicle. They will pull out in front of you. I ride with headlight on (this really, really helps), and carry on a conversation with myself like, "See that car? Its driver doesn't see me, he is going to turn in front of me." Get ready to put on the brakes at all times. Your training with the motorcycle taught you to use both front and rear brakes at the same time, maybe something of countersteering. Wear a helmet. Roethlisberger didn't, car turned in front of him.

Sorry also about your dating an obsessively needy person. I have a theory that no dating experience is wasted. People are getting together happily all the time. Your time will happen, too.
